Banking & Finance - Infrastructure & Project Finance
Infrastructure & Project Finance is a key pillar of our banking & finance practice.
We have vast experience of financing both UK PFI/PPP projects and private sector projects at home and overseas. As a firm, McGrigors has been involved in PFI/PPP since its inception, acting for consortia, public sector bodies and financiers alike. In 2008, we were involved in 20% of all UK PPP deals that reached financial close. The experience gained means that a project finance transaction can now be resourced from any of our five principal offices at an appropriate level and with the appropriate resources. That fact is evidenced by the number of project finance deals that we have closed across the UK - the most recent PFI Report tables rank McGrigors fourth in the UK for the number of PFI transactions completed.
Our project financiers have wide-ranging experience advising in all elements of debt and equity financing. Financing structures in projects recently concluded by the team have included:
- bank funding (syndicated and bilateral)
- capital market funding
- asset finance
- grant funding
- limited recourse off-balance sheet financing of private sector projects
- institutional fund investment
Each project brings with it its own challenges and sector-specific issues. We have advised in projects across all sectors including energy, roads, hospitals, water and waste, education, housing and accomodation, transport and technology.
