Expertise
Shona has been with McGrigors since 2002 when she joined as a trainee. She advises a wide range of clients in relation to all aspects of employment law and has particular experience and interest in disciplinary and grievance procedures, equal pay and Employment Tribunal practice and procedure. Shona is a trusted adviser to some of the UK's largest employers and her expertise ranges from advising on day-to-day performance management issues through to large scale restructurings and business transfers. Shona has successfully represented many clients in the Employment Tribunal.
Shona has spent time on secondment with a number of in-house teams during her time at McGrigors. In 2005 she was seconded to the Group Legal team at BP plc for 6 months and they specifically asked for her to complete a second secondment during 2008. In late 2008/early2009 she spent 9 months on secondment to the in house employment team at HBOS plc.
Shona is regularly involved in designing and delivering training packages for clients.
Recent Successes:
- advising a digital advertising company in relation to new employment contracts, with specific focus on restrictive covenants, confidentiality and protection of IP rights
- advising a local authority in relation to equal pay claims raised by various groups of employees
- successfully defending a claim of constructive unfair dismissal for a major motor vehicle group
