Audrey has more than 25 years experience of general litigation, and licensing and debt recovery, in particular.
She represents many different interests in the leisure sector at Licensing Board and Committee hearings. She works closely with the Firm's corporate and real estate lawyers in a wide range of transactions involving licensed premises. Audrey is accredited as a specialist in liquor licensing law by the Law Society of Scotland and a member of the Licensing sub-committee of the Law Society of Scotland. She contributes regularly to licensing publications and conferences and is a consultant editor to Scottish Licensing Law & Practice. She is recognised as a leader in the field of licensing by Chambers.
Audrey also manages a team of debt recovery professionals who recover debts on behalf of commercial, professional and institutional clients. She is listed as an expert in the field of debt recovery in "Legal Experts 2010".
Recent Successes:
- raising court actions on behalf of a government department for the recovery of civil penalties
- raising court actions on behalf of educational institutions for the recovery of outstanding course fees
- processing a large volume of debt actions for a financial services company, not only obtaining decree but also enforcement by way of charge and arrestment
- advising a copyright licensing organisation on the best method of recovering licensing fees for a multi-site car dealer, raising proceedings in the Court of Session and achieving a satisfactory settlement for the clients
- advising various clients, including restaurant, hotel, casino and bingo club operators, on the implications of the transition to the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and managing the process on their behalf
- managing the Scottish licensing portfolios of various clients, including a major off-sales operator
- representing off-sales operators, successfully, at licence suspension hearings throughout Scotland for alleged under age sales
- obtaining new premises licences for restaurants operated by major UK restaurant operators in 3 landmark shopping developments in Scotland
