Expertise
Sam deals with commercial disputes including construction and professional indemnity cases. He is also concerned with licensing applications.
He serves on the Contentious Business Committee of the Incorporated Law Society of Northern Ireland and sits on the Chancery Division Liaison Committee.
Sam was named as a 'leader in the field' for construction, dispute resolution and licensing in Chambers UK Guide to the Legal Profession 2009 and is described as having an 'assured hand' in commercial disputes and being 'helpful and responsive' with a 'detailed knowledge of licensing law and excellent industry contacts'.
Recent Successes:
- acting for Laganside Corporation in successfully resisting a Judicial Review by Sheridan Millennium following a decision to remove Sheridan as preferred developer
- acting for E A Baird (N’ards) Limited in three separate Judicial Reviews, two successful, against the NAP relating to pharmaceutical licensing applications
- acting for Winemark the Winemerchants Limited in successfully objecting to an application for an off licence by Lidl Northern Ireland GmbH in Strabane. This was a High Court action which spanned 26 days
- acting on behalf of a Defendant in an action for specific performance of a contract to purchase land for £22million
