Patrick is a partner in the corporate team. He specialises in private equity and biotech/life sciences work and is based in our London office.

 

Expertise

Patrick is a private equity and venture capital specialist. Rapidly growing high technology companies are a main area of expertise, particularly life sciences companies. His deal experience includes general corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings and IPOs.

 

Recent Successes:

  • advised the shareholders of Henry J Beans Group Limited in respect of its £5.8million disposal to the AIM listed owner of the James chain of restaurants, Hartford Group plc
  • acted for a consortium of investors led by Kelso Place and King Street Partners in respect of their £15million acquisition of the eponymous Bond Street stationers, Frank Smythson Limited
  • acted for Japanese telecoms equipment supplier, Pan Communications Inc. on a pre IPO fund-raising round. Acted for management in the £25million MBO of ACIS Limited, providers of real time traffic management technology, which was backed by Inflexion Private Equity
  • acted for telecoms services company, Shere Group Limited, on its acquisition of a portfolio of radio mast income rights from United Utilities and on its acquisition of Ultramast Limited from Jarvis plc
  • advised Inflexion Private Equity in the £12million management buyout of Healthcare Knowledge International Limited. Acted for biotech company, Argenta Discovery Limited on its acquisition of Etiologics Limited and subsequent £6million institutional fund-raising
  • acted for management in the MBO of on-line brokers, Comdirect Limited
  • acted for the management shareholders of Megabeam Networks Limited, a wireless LAN business, in a recommended £11million take-over by Swiss Telecom AG and the prior de-merger and sale of an Italian subsidiary
  • acted for Merlin as lead investor on the first round funding of Biowisdom Limited
  • acted for Merlin Biosciences Ltd (through its bid vehicle St James' MGP Ltd) on the recommended general offer for ReNeuron, an AIM listed stem-cell research company, from public to private.Acted for biotech company, Cyclacel Limited on its last 3 institutional funding rounds, raising over £40million in aggregate
