Katharine is a partner in the litigation & dispute resolution team and is based in our London office. She is a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil).
Expertise
Katharine has extensive experience in conducting substantial and complex corporate and commercial disputes in the High Court as well as in other areas of dispute resolution including arbitration, mediation and expert determination. Katharine has broad experience in advising clients in a number of sectors with a particular focus on the energy, financial services and technology sectors.
Katharine is an Honorary Legal Adviser at the City Citizens Advice Bureau where, for more than 17 years, she had advised on a wide range of legal problems.
Recent Successes:
- acting for Nuon Exploration & Production UK Limited in the successful defence of an action brought by Venture North Sea Gas Limited for specific performance of a sale and purchase agreement valued at €105million (January 2010)
- acting for BP against Dolphin Drilling Limited where BP obtained a declaration concerning terminating a contract for convenience (December 2009)
- acting for several major energy companies in an expert determination to resolve a pricing dispute under a long term energy supply contract

- acting for Port of Tilbury (part of Forth Ports plc) in successful appeal to Court of Appeal against Stora Enso in relation to a dispute concerning contractual set off provisions (January 2009)
- acting for Sir Thomas Hunter, Jim McMahon and West Coast Capital in the successful defence of the Gadget Shop litigation which involved a claim of up to £120million for breach of a corporate opportunity. The case involved detailed consideration of fiduciary duties of directors
- acting for Astea (UK) Limited against Time Computers Limited where Astea successfully sued Time Computers Limited in relation to contracts for the supply, implementation and licensing of software
