Euan is a partner in the energy & infrastructure team and is based in our Edinburgh and London offices.
Expertise
Euan specialises in infrastructure projects of all sorts. He has particular experience in the Energy sector having worked on or being currently involved in a number of CCGT, Renewable Energy (including hydro-electric schemes, on-shore and off-shore wind), Combined Heat & Power, Energy Marketing, Electricity Distribution and Gas Transportation Projects.
Euan also has extensive experience of PFI/PPP Projects including those involving equity investment by the public sector. In this sector he has advised senior lenders, equity investors, project developers and the public sector. He has particular experience in the PFI/PPP Secondary Market and in the Refinancing of Projects (where he has advised both the private and the public sectors).
Recent Successes:
- advising Scottish Power and Vattenfall on their successful bid for the 7.2 GW Norfolk Zone in the Crown States Round 3 Offshore Wind process
- advising RWE on the 50MW Biomass CHP Plant to be built at the Tullis Russell factory in Fife
- advising GreenPower on the joint venture and sale arrangements for the 200 MW Griffin Wind Farm
- advising HBOS on the establishment of the Bank of Scotland Infrastructure Fund and the transfer and sale arrangements for circa 40 "Seed" Project Investments
- currently advising Scottish Power on its participation in the DECC Competition for a UK Carbon Capture and Storage Demonstration project
- advising HSBC on the project financing of the Aikengall and West DurhamWindfarms
- advising InterGen on the Tolling Agreement with Centrica for the proposed c. 440 MW Rijnmond II CCGT Project in the Netherlands
- advising Scottish Power on the disposal of Knapton Power Station and Subsequent long-term electricity and gas off-take contracts
- advising a major utility on Carbon Trading documentation
- advising Scottish Power on its acquisition from and joint venture with The Co-Operative Group for the Coldham Wind Farm Project
- advising BP as Terminal Operator (on behalf of the owners of the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal) on the outsourcing of the 100MW Sullom Voe Power Station to Fortum, the Finnish utility and advising in respect of a PPA with Scottish and Southern Energy plc
- advising the senior lender on the project aspects of the refinancing of a group of bundled Infrastructure Projects
- advising Royal Bank of Scotland on a series of disposals in the PPP Secondary Market
- advising the Bank of Scotland on their equity investment in a series of Infrastructure Projects
- advising a major UK gas supplier on issues arising out of independent transportation networks and the regulatory impact of the sale of the Transco LDZ networks
- advising the bidder for a 90MW offshore wind farm project
