George specialises in advising on commercial contracts and related matters across a range of sectors. George's practice includes: advising in relation to distribution, agency and logistics contracts and purchase and supply contracts; advising on the outsourcing of back-office services; the drafting and negotiation of software development and licensing contracts and the procurement of information and communication technology systems; advising in relation to e-commerce regulatory compliance; general intellectual property and data protection advice; and intellectual property and data protection aspects of corporate transactions (including mergers and acquisitions and investments).
Recent Successes:
- George is the lead IP and commercial advisor to Greenvale AP Limited, one of the UK's largest suppliers of potatoes
- George advises Scottish Power Energy Retail Limited in respect of a number of matters, including affinity marketing agreements, energy services agreements, customer agreements and maintenance agreements
- George is the lead advisor to TMRI Limited in respect of all intellectual property and commercial matters, including collaboration, services and research agreements. TMRI is a joint venture between four Scottish Health Boards and four Scottish Universities establishing a translational medical research collaboration
- George was part of the McGrigors team which advised Jygsaw Brands Limited in respect of its investment in a joint venture company formed by Scottish & Newcastle plc to support its heritage ale brands and second tier cider brands through marketing and promotional support
- George is a key advisor to the Scottish Rugby Union (for example advising the SRU in respect of its contract with Murray International Holdings in respect of its principal shirt sponsor)
- George regularly advises the distributor of a number of famous alcoholic beverages in respect of their sales, distribution and logistics contracts in the UK
- George lead a multi-disciplinary McGrigors team in relation to the outsourcing of an integrated document management service which includes the development and implementation of a new software system; approximate contract value: £35million
