Press Release 14 February 2007 McGrigors bolsters real estate team UK law firm McGrigors LLP has strengthened its real estate offering with the appointment of associates Rodney Whyte and Mark McCall to their Aberdeen office. McGrigors real estate team comprises more than 70 lawyers able to conduct business across the UK, drawing on expertise in investment, development, finance, planning, environmental and construction. The team regularly advises on cross-border transactions with many solicitors dual qualified with transactional expertise in more than one jurisdiction. The 11-strong Aberdeen real estate team is headed up by partners Tracey Menzies and John Curran and focuses primarily on the housebuilding sector, commercial property development and construction law. John Curran, partner in the McGrigors real estate team based in Aberdeen, said: “These appointments demonstrate McGrigors’ continuing commitment to the real estate market across Scotland and the housebuilding sector in particular. The arrival of Rodney and Mark enhances the project life cycle of services we offer to builders, developers, landowners and financial institutions operating in what is a vibrant and vitally important sector of the Scottish economy.” Rodney Whyte joins McGrigors from Stewart and Watson Solicitors and brings with him more than 17 years’ experience on a broad spectrum of property transactions. This includes the purchase and sale of residential development sites, commercial property acquisitions and disposals, secured lending and commercial farm purchase and sale transactions. Rodney joins the housebuilding unit of the real estate team. Mark McCall joins from Aberdein Considine & Co and has 11 years’ experience in commercial property and corporate transactions with a specific interest in property development. His commercial experience includes the purchase and sale of commercial and residential development sites, the revision of section 75 agreements, commercial leasing, commercial security work and liquor licensing. Recent high-profile transactions undertaken by the McGrigors Aberdeen real estate team include the acquisition of Motherwell Town Centre, the acquisition and planning aspects of the major mixed use development at Bellsdyke Hospital in Larbert, the sale of Hilton Campus by the University of Aberdeen, the development of new headquarters by Stewart Milne Group for Acergy UK Ltd, and the purchase and subsequent disposal of the Donside Paper Mill site.
