McGrigors makes four partner promotions

UK law firm McGrigors LLP has today announced the promotion of four of its lawyers which will take effect from October 1st 2007.

Ruth Tobias and Sarah Howlett, both Directors in the employment team will become partners whilst continuing to work four days a week as part of the firm’s flexible hours working policy through its Valuing People programme. Based in the Glasgow office, Ruth advises on all areas of pensions law including advising on pension scheme mergers, age discrimination issues and pension scheme wind ups including issues concerning statutory debt. She also advises on contentious issues, including claims to the Pensions Ombudsman and the court as well as providing corporate support.

Sarah Howlett is based in McGrigors London office and advises clients on all aspects of employment law. In particular Sarah regularly advises on executive recruitment, and severance, large scale redundancies, transfer of undertakings and changing terms and conditions. Sarah also advises on status issues, termination payments and the employment aspects of tax savings schemes involving salary sacrifice.

In addition to these two promotions, Senior Associates, Iain MacPhail and Stuart Nash will also become partners.

Iain is based in the construction procurement team in Edinburgh and specialises in advising on construction and procurement law issues. He has particular experience in acting for Employers, Contractors and Funders in large construction and engineering projects as well as for Funders, SPV's and Contractors in PFI/PPP deals.

Stuart Nash is both a contentious and non contentious construction lawyer having gained experience in the US and since 1996 in the UK. He is dual qualified as an English solicitor and a U.S. attorney. While practising in the US, Stuart represented contractors both in court and in arbitrations. Since relocating to England Stuart has gained relevant PFI and Project Finance experience, advised employers on large property developments, acted for contractors and employers in Adjudications and in the Technology and Construction Court and acted for both employers and contractors in national and international arbitrations.
