I have now been at McGrigors for over two years and clichéd as it sounds, time has really flown. My first year felt like a bit of a rollercoaster but though it was daunting at times I learned an enormous amount. I spent the first six months of my second year in Real Estate, and then went to Construction into which I eventually qualified. Both teams were great, and I was given more responsibility and client contact than I had previously had which increased my confidence and made me feel ready for qualification.
Now that I am an NQ I am happy to say things are still going well. The department has been very busy with a range of work from High Court cases and arbitrations to preparing contracts and appointments for various construction projects, and as part of a small team I have as much responsibility as I can handle. The learning curve has been very steep, but there are always colleagues to advise and assist when I need help, and it is great to know that the work I do is making a greater impact. At this stage, it feels good to be a permanent member of the team, and I am very settled and happy in my position.
